Actually, I think these are streets of Paris, October '67. For the record, all clips (not sure only about Salvation) are available on this site in much better quality.

Where did this one come from?? It is better quality than the virtually black copy I have had for many years.

Not a good copy, but it starts off with a full visual, goes black with an occasional glimpse, and around the 2 minute mark, it has seconds here and there that I have never seen.

I was told that the original had been ruined, and that is why no good copy will ever turn up, so this was quite unexpected for me.

Does anyone have a better copy than this?

I posted some snapshots from this clip in the Jimi Hendrix Image Gallery

i have actually never seen this timecode version before. I donīt think i have ever seen this with any time code (am i wrong?? have to look)
this is colorized somehow. but also here, the "effects" are there. i donīt think another version has circulated or exists.

Yes I have the complete programme from the BBC master reels. I also have TWCM, from the BBC masters. A friend of mine, many years ago now, just happened to be a producer at the Beeb and was able to track down the original film and make pro copies of them. The original is not ruined, the effects you see were added to give a 'psychedelic' experience.

Yes it's a great video with some nice live footage and effects but I'm not sure if it's the greatest Hendrix video on YouTube. What people see as the greatest can be very subjective so I'm sure for some it is the greatest video but I'm sure others have different favourites. I for one would see Hendrix greatest video as occurring in 1970 when I believe he was at his peak so if you did a video of let say ''Hey Baby {New Rising Sun}'' from Copenhagen or ''Machine Gun'' from Berlin 1970 with the same great effects and footage then I would probaly say it's the greatest Hendrix YouTube video. Everyone has different opinions of what their favourite Hendrix video is but I'm sure they all agree that your video is wonderful and doesn't need to be hyped up as the greatest. It stands on its own as a great video.

Well not a complete "no brainer" since Jon is in the UK, so it'll have to be someone in Europe (preferably the UK) as PAL would cause a problem for us on this side of the pond. Not to many folks in the U.S. or Canada with VCRs that can handle PAL.

Ahh, apparently shot by BBC. "all was lost except Wild Thing". ........Highly unlikely! Can't wait to see the rest of that footage :)

The Wild Thing clips survive because they were used in the 1968 BBC "All My Loving" film produced by Tony Palmer. The raw footage is considered long gone, not surprising considering the BBC's policy was to essentially throw everything out. This is why so much of Dr. Who, Top of the Pops, et al is long gone.

Well I hope for both our sakes, you are wrong :) Amazing the things that get pitched overboard without the slightest thought. Hindsight is perfect though!

Experience Hendrix must be reading these threads as I saw the Woburn footage this morning and surprise surprise...For something that's silent and lasts about a minute I wouldn't have thought they'd bother.

morelmusic - thanks for the info, that makes sense. I find the single camera from the audience at times are way more real than the crash edits done these days, Joe Satriani Live In Paris makes me feel seasick.

[QUOTE=morelmusic;47692Did the original break come right after Mockingbird and Jimi eventually changes for Voodoo? [/QUOTE]

That would seem to be the case. It's a bit like the Gaumont where it appears they took Wild Thing from the 1st show and Purple Haze from the 2nd?

That is the San Diego 25jul70 8mm film.
Apart from the youtube blockyness, it looks like its quite a good copy.
Did you transfer it from VHS? If so, maybe a 'lossless' version can be torrented?!

What the F is wrong with the hendrixindustrie? Give us the most complete video including incomplete songs, pad it out with stills whatever, it is the only decent gig filmed at length that gives us a taste (apart from Monterey) of a great Hendrix gig.

Exactly, it's a good edit, but shit coz it's needlessly in B&W, better edit than anything the wank company has come up with, they have the power/footage but they are withholding for Janie's offspring. most JH original fans will be pushing up dasies before they release the film. Bad move 'cause that's the main audience. So shit to think the release of the major film holdings will flop when they are released after the major fan base has pegged it, or lost interest.

That has always been my gripe with EH. The core audience is unfortunately dying away as we have seen by Noel,Buddy and Mitch. It's like WTF are you waiting for? I've spent years as I'm sure other have collecting any little snippet to listen to or view and enjoy. I thought Janie had kids? I have two teenagers myself(both of them dig Jimi thru me of course) and judging by their tastes in music the younger base will still connect with the music but the passion and fond memories shared on this site amongst us will be gone.

^^
as I have stated in other posts, EH/Janie will piece-meal out (in addition to re-re-re-re-release) the vault contents for decades to come (and leave instructions for her replacement to do same), thus making sure her future generations are well taken care of. Miles, Redding, Mitchell never got to see/hear lots of stuff and neither will we. Make Hendrix fans out of your children and your children's children and etc. etc. Some of them 'might' get the chance!
