My FAQ:

Jimi Hendrix
(w/ Billy Cox, Mitch Mitchell)
1970-07-17
Randall's Island
New York Pop Festival

An exceptional soundboard recording (all but "...Watchtower") with a very frisky set from the man. It's the Gypsy Experience, or the Experienced Gypsy, as Mitch has come back to take his rightful place behind the kit, and the mesh between the three is astounding.

The version of Red House was used on "VOODOO CHILD: THE JIMI HENDRIX COLLECTION " a two disc set, the second disc containing rare live performances, including this track. (Interestingly, the pro-mastering done to that song included some slick added reverb, which I didn't care for at all.) So unfortunately that track has been ommitted for seeding here.

"All Along the Watchtower" is from a previously available AUD source, and it fits in OK, though the quality difference won't go by unnoticed.

Otherwise, be prepared for a treat, one excellent performance and matched with a nice capture perfect for remastering. When "Stone Free" kicks in, it will be instantly clear the treasure you're about to unfold.

A quality source with a slight bit more hiss than I can take, so on top of my usual process (EQ-COMP-Width-Enhance-Max), I used some Waves Noise-X on the front of the chain, tastefully of course.

1- Stone Free
2- Fire
3- Red House
4- Message To Love
5- Lover Man
6- All Along the Watchtower*
7- Foxy Lady
8- Ezy Rider
9- Star Spangled Banner
10-Purple Haze
11-Voodoo Child (Slight Return)

* Aud recording

PRE-13 SOURCE INFO
=====================

I got this from the news groups, and my guess is it's from a silver-bottom boot, as that's the artwork included. Otherwise, that's all it came with. I'm not complaining, and neither should you.

I arranged this artwork from the one already existing just by adding the "thir13en remaster" on the front and editing the track list on the back and adding "remastered". I did it few years ago when this torrent was first uploaded by the guy who did the remaster (Mixwell) on Zomb.
Use it if you like it.

This one sounds really, really good. Thanks a lot !!
I burned my own CD from it and included Red House from the old OOP 'Jimi Hendrix concerts' cd. It's a bit of a drag we have to puzzle like this to recompose the best possible CD's ( and in a way now it's not Alan Douglas anymore who we can blame for making concerts incomplete )but I fully understand the reasons for it...

I don't fully understand the reason for it....., if a track is released in an altered form, why can't we include the unaltered original in the download. I appreciate the need not to included officially released material but if it's been doctored then why can't we have the undoctored material? One of you mod types might care to explain this to me! :-)
thanks

Has anyone noticed that the mixes of Red House on "Jimi Hendrix Concerts" and "Variations on a theme - Red House" are quite different?
On "Variations", you hear a lot of (angry) crowd noise at the start,
and the guitar sounds "far away" at times, almost like an audience recording. And there's no echo.

It seems that there are more than one version of "Variations on a theme - Red House" cause mine doesn't have the Randalls NY version, but the last track (#7) is a Jhon Lee Hooker version..

Oh, the Randall's Island version is track 2 - incorrectly listed as being from Newport '69.

Can you tell me the times for each song please?

i downloaded this from another site
compared the files and they are identical
there are gaps between tracks
i don't think such torrent should be shared anywhere

this guy thir13en lives on zomb and remasters a wide variety of music
I've downloaded stuff from him at zomb before and it's usually good
he basically does some EQ and other little tricks to liven up recordings
don't flame me for saying that, I agree everyone should have the raw version first
but my point is that this wasn't really intended for us purists on here
and the guy who did it isn't the one who uploaded it here. he's good though.
I haven't listened to this upload yet, mak said there were gaps?
thir13en doesn't usually leave any gaps inserted into his digital remasters
but who knows, maybe he did screw something up, I haven't listened

I just found that emilovius repaired the gaps and stuff on here
and uploaded it on demonoid two years ago
