A little off-tangent, but I could have sworn talking to another Hendrix fan years ago and he said that the precursor to the wah-pedal had a side-to-side action (rather than up and down) and was used by a band called the Monks or something similar sounding. Can anyone verify that? I've always wondered about that bit of info.

Heard somewhere that supposely George Harrisson introduced Eric Clapton to the wah-wah during the making of Disraeli Gears which Geroge is rumored to be playing on..

The "precursor" was a hand controled gadget, no ?
