View Full Version : Highway Chile
In the "Are You Experienced" Guitar World DVD, Velvet Turner says that "Highway Chile" was written as a tribute to Bob Dylan. I don't remember having read anything like that before.
Some members have more information about "Highway Chile" subject?

I always thought that it was autobiographical. However, some lyrics do point to the Zim:
"Flamin hair just a blowin in the wind"
"A rolling stone who gathers no moss"
"But you'd probably call him a tramp"
à la "Only A Hobo"
Dylan songs:
"Highway 51 Blues" / "Down the Highway" / "Highway 61 Revisted"
Interesting Ayler, Velvert often talks bollocks, but here it does appear there is a connection. Thanks for pointing out the connections purple jim

I read somewhere that he had written, "You'd probably call him a tramp, but I know it goes a little deeper then that!" somewhere around 1965, In Cross' "Room Full Of Mirrors" I think. Would make sense, Dylan being a big influence then (and throughout).
