How about this one :
My pride, an original 1980 Fender prototype of a Hendrix Stratocaster ( only 25 ever built ! ) unfortunately slightly modified by a previous owner.

Thanks man...i am not really a bass player so don't expect any "high end" stuff...:(

So add a Squier Classic Vibe Jazz bass (great instrument for the price if you ask me), an old modified Ibanez GSR200 and my wife's short scale Harley Benton bass... ;)

PS: i've just realized that most of the wah and guitars photos i've posted in my site are a kinda of old...most of them have been heavily modified (neck profiles, fretboard radius, fret size for the guitars, pots, switches and even the enclosures for the wahs...hell, now i am thinking, even my plexi's photos are not updated..lol)

Who cares if it's high end stuff? ;) As long as it plays and sounds well, I really don't care if it's high end. I bought a couple of years ago an old Squier Precision Bass (from about '83/'84) for 80 euros (!) and it's just an amazing bass, plays and sounds wonderfull (nothing modified)! I'll post some pics soon ;)

this is accordingly restrung for lefty as that is my handedness.

this here is a pretty versatile guitar. it's an Electra Phoenix x190.

all three knobs pull out for many tonal options. 3 way pickup selector (bridge pickup/both pickups/neck pickup)

volume knob - pulls out for Coil Tap
neck tone knob - pulls out to turn on middle pick up which is otherwise off
bridge tone knob - pulls out for "phaser" effect

How strange to assume we have an instrument? lol.. Must be something about Jimi fans i guess! Gotta be a part of the music.

My U.S.A Fender Strat... A Real 68` VOX Crybaby! And Various Fulltone Pedals... Dont have them anymore, went over to Analogman Pedals then got skint and sold them too :-( Will never lose my beloved Strat though... its a part of me.

(I'll have pics of all this stuff sometime tomorrow!) :)

My Set Up:

Guitar: Squier '51 ($99 guitar but the neck pickup has great sound to me ears)

Amp: Fender Blues Jr. (the standard one, not the yellow tolex one)

Effects:
Dunlop Octavio
Vox V847 Wah (Modded heavily by MaxxPlay)
MXR BC108 Classic Fuzz
Fulltone OCD (V4)
KR Megavibe
MXR Carbon Copy Delay

I also have a Dunlop Hendrix Silicon Fuzz Face, that I bought off cheap on ebay, but the 9v battery clip is broken so I need to fix that before I can test the pedal!

I got most of the effects on ebay for cheap (Octavio, Wah before mods, both Fuzz, Carbon Copy).

My main hope is to replace my Squier '51 with a true strat...I love the neck pickup on the Squier, but the bridge pickup is so weak, and the guitar just doesn't have much tonal range overall. It's just these things cost money and I don't have much of that...

Here's a video of me playing my "main squeeze". It's a 1992 Fender Standard Stratocaster, with the pickups from a 1986 MIJ Fender Contemporary Stratocaster. The neck is a 22-fret Warmoth. Despite it's appearance, it's actually a righthand neck, with reverse headstock. The Gibson Flying V and Ibanez 7-string seen to the left, are my 2 other main "live" guitars.

Excellent thread CanaQ-- well I can't play anything-- but Ive read enough about Mike Jeffery that if we put together a band here (The Crosstown Torrents Band) I could manage us. So who's all in favor of me (MJ wanna be) being the Manager? Ive already got a lot of gigs set up for us- we will criss cross the world giving 3 concerts a day. For example we will give our first concert performance in LA then fly to Europe for the second concert of the day and then fly back to LA for the third concert of the day. Dont worry bout the money- Ill handle all of that.

I have a Drifter guitar from 1970, gibson japan knock off probaby made better than gibson at the time. Ill post soon. Also love to play my "little martin". Sound great with the new FX strings. Gosh it's about time they made some strings for the thing. it came out with medium strings, but it's such a short guitar that they were so tight and hard to bend and it just tore my fingers up. These new strings kick ass and sound great on the it now...and now it's fun to play...

Here's my Drifter. I have it restrung left-handed and the intonation ain't where it should be...I'm gonna have it professionally done...great tone...1970 made by yamaha knock off company bought from continential or something like that...they use to make school band intruments! classic japanese good workmanship gibson knock off from when US companies outsource their manufacturing and in some cases (fancy that) made a better product. I just recently scored the catalog...it's amazingily 70's groovey...anyone wanna see it? I'll post!

I also have a 1966 classical folk guitar made by Custom Built, Classic Guitars, Chicago IL. #173 -- 100 dollar guitar then, 200 hundred dollar guitar now.
She taught me how to play...I remember in 1972, my mom's friend playing, Jeremaiya was a Bull Frog...from then it sat in a hot attic for 20 years...and ya pull her down...and she's still in tune. I have mistreated her so badly...soooooo badly....and yet...she always comes by my side...always in tune...She just love d addario black folk strings...
I'll post a picture of Bella next time I get a nice photo of her when she's getting out of the shower! ; )

yes, actualy it's an original Vintage Ace strap from the 60's, more comonly known as the: "Woodstock" Strap.

the other Strap as you can see on my new 69 Strat is also a known as an Hendrix Strap, like you can see here:

I was lucky to find one at Ebay in a "like new" condition (it was made more then 40 years ago), and in a very reasonable price.

I always look for Hendrix Straps on Ebay so maybe one day I hope to have the top 5 strap collection ;-).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ACE-Vintage-60s-Guitar-Strap-Jimi-Hendrix-Woodstock-/170563500481?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item27b66079c1#ht_1100wt_1139

Wow! Your guitar collection is great I must say.

I play lefty, on upside down strats.

Also, I have the same red/green ACE strap as you, which I also got for a steal on ebay, it whiffs of someone funky mojo. Mine too is over 40 years old. I'd love to have a 68 strat one day, and YES! I check ebay all the time for the straps too aha! It's great, I love your idea of the top 5 straps.

I actually have a recreation of the Purple Suede strap that Jimi used on the Black Beauty from mid 1970 onwards. A friend in the USA made it for me, a true Hendrix fan, maybe you've heard of him, he's on youtube and performs in Seattle for such things as the Memorial or Birthday of Jimi, a guy called Angel Reca, under 'Handtricks' on youtube.

anyway, here's some shots of me, my White Swan strat (Also a recreation. Of Marc Bolan's stratocaster), and that green/red ACE strap. - Taken when I played a gig in a local bar.

I work at the old HP facility in Rohnert Park, now owned by Codding, but live further north. I grew up in Bennett Valley. We moved here in '72 - I started 10 grade that year. Small world!

Ok, here is my '63 Strat I bought in Chillicothe, Ohio, off of the son of a farmer who I was told played in the honkytonk bars on the weekends out in the hills of southern Ohio for a while in the 60's.
It was advertised in the Chillicothe Gazette classifieds in the summer of 1974 for $200. I talked him down to $180.
Disclaimer: the neck is stamped Feb 11, 1963. The body is 1968. Two of the pick-ups are original '63, the other one came from the '68 model.
I've never done a thing to it, still as I bought it 36 years ago, except aquire a couple of autographs on the body.
I was in Chillicothe that summer working at the Mead Paper Mill (my Dad was a VP at Mead Headquarters in Dayton, Ohio back then).
$200 was about two weeks of work back then, after expenses.
The thing still sounds great, but I rarely play it anymore after I bought my SRV Strat about 5 years ago or so.

I saw Buddy Guy for the umpteenth time in the mid 80's and I handed him my '63 Strat after a gig for him to sign.
A couple of years later I handed it to BB King.
Finally, when I had the chance to meet Clapton backstage in Cincinnati, Ohio, I brought the guitar with me, hoping I'd have the chance to hand it to him to play and maybe even sign.
We were introduced, he'd been playing snooker backstage for a while, and then I reached over and set the case on a chair and opened it up.
Eric picked it up, didn't say a word, and played it (no amp) for what was over a minute but felt like an hour.
Then he turned it around, looked it over, and started playing it again.
When he handed it back to me he didn't say a word. So I asked him, what do you think of my guitar?
First a real long pause, and then he said "love your guitar, hate your strings".
I've been buying 11's ever since.
Anyway, here is the guitar, maybe you can see the autographs. Clapton's ends with the date "92"....I included the photos I have with each of those guys....I also threw in my Albert King photo.....he signed a lot of stuff for me over the years, but I never had the chance to hand him my Strat. He never played one anyway so what the heck.

The headstock of my '63.
Also a shot of my basement where the band hangs out.
I play the SRV Strat (changed the pick-guard) and that's a recently purchased Hummingbird that I really love (special edition w/o the bird on the pick-guard) over by my Gretsch kit that I bought so we have "house" drums. I like playing them myself when they let me.
I have a '68 silverface Pro Reverb and the other Fender is a Vibroverb I bought just a couple of years ago.
That's a VOX AC30 I got years ago for peanuts. Also there's a '72 Champ that sounds better then anything I have. That thing has a serious crunch to it. That was $50 used in 1973, my first amp.
What's not shown is my '69 Princeton because my brother (who plays the Roland) has it as his house down the street so when I visit him there's an amp for me.
Also not shown is the 60's Rhodes that my brother bought in the 70's. It's in the storage area behind the wall right now, it's big. I love that sound.
I "bought" the Princeton off a black guy in Dayton in 1978 for a $35 bag of weed.
The weed sucked, even for the 70's, but the amp still kicks ass.

Let's see. The first time I met Buddy Guy he wasn't even playing. It was 1978 at the Checkerboard Lounge in Chicago and if you ever went there, you know that table to your right just as you walked in, where only guys like Buddy were allowed to sit. Anyway, he was playing cards (gin I think) and drinking cognac. After a while we asked him if he wanted to smoke some weed, he said yes, and we stepped outside on the street. The guy playing that night at the Checkerboard was Magic Slim. Big guy, plays guitar. I think he's still around.
I remember Buddy playing at the Canal Street Tavern in Dayton in the 80's and he left the stage and he kept playing as he left the bar and he was tearing it up out in the middle of the street. He also walked into the women's restroom playing up a storm which freaked out the ladies.

I met Freddy King between sets one night (only saw him once, it was unreal) and I told him how much I loved him and he was gracious and all, but all he was doing was trying to pick up all these hot chicks who were around. After the second set he split with two fine young ladies. College girls. The kind I wanted back then but couldn't get.
BB King I met at least three times and we talked at length at least once, but I have no other recollection. Sort of weird. I'll have to ask my buddies about any anecdotes with BB.

Albert King. Where do I start. I saw him 11 times, at least. I have 6 surviving tapes. Nothing will ever equal me sitting right in front of him and having my head blown off. Then again, I never saw Jimi. Mom wouldn't let me, I tried. Actually he ended up canceling the May '70 gig in Cincinnati anyway. Which is the only reason I'm not mad at my Mom.
Once we showed up early to an Albert gig and he was in the adjacent alleyway in his overalls and the hood of his bus was up and he was inside the engine fixing it with a wrench.
Another time he was in an exceptionally foul mood (which made the show even better) and he seemed drunk and he was berating the pick-up band, especially the lame second guitarist and I'll never forget Albert's hair standing up and lo and behold, sticking out of the inside of the top of his right boot with his pants scrunched up, was a pistol. The man was packing heat, at least that night.
I loved Albert King. Such a monster talent. I miss him. I told my two buddies who live in Chicago back when he quit touring around, that if Albert ever played Chicago again, let me know. I don't remember the year but my buddies called me and said Albert was playing Blues Inc. in downtown Chicago. I drove up from Cincinnati, watched him play, he looked a lot older since the last time I'd seen him. He wasn't wearing his shark skin suit anymore. But I'm so happy I went as he died just a few months later. I miss Albert King.

Great storys about Buddy Guy & Freddie King Souldoggie. Anny chance of putting up those King tapes on dime or the green demon???.
Saw Buddy Guy twice here in holland. The first time in my hometown Groningen, in the early 90ies.Was a great concert.
He wrapped up the usually timid audience overher within two songs, playing out his dynamic trick going from low volume to high verry verry well. So after about 4 songs he went into the audience. The fun thing with this was that a roady came onto the stage to set his remote. As he had the audience exstatic allready, this guy got a huge response, though the only thing he did,was pulling out two antenna's for the remote, heading up to the front of the stage and getting another great aplause LOL. Buddy was awsome though, really tore up the place.
The second time was a about 3 years later,as he played at the North Sea Jazz festival. We just saw Mike Stern play, which totally blew me away, and as we were waiting to see Marcus Miller. Buddy did his gig,as we were rather musically saturated after Stern we went outside the concert hall to have a drink an a bite halfway Guy's gig. But Guy ,famous for his going into the audience, went to his famous trick again, going into into the audience, and even leaving the the concert hall to play outside.
So the weirdest thing was, as we were having a bite outside, all of a sudden Mr. Buddy Guy with his black polka dotted guitar was standing next to us. LOL
Still on the subject of performers going into the public,my best memory is when I saw Albert Collins here in my hometown in the late 70ies. Mr. Ice Pick the master of the telecaster (You Hendrix Nutters might know that Jimi's "Drivin, South" is in fact Collin's Thaw Out !!!) He played here in a medium club (Vera) which could contain about 300 people. Halfway through the show he went through the public (no remotes in those days, just a verry long guitar cable !!!) out of the concert hall into the basement bar got himself a whisky came back and really tore up the place by playng it to the audience, totally awsome.
I had my ankle broken a couple of weeks before,so I was still in plaster, but had to see Mr. Collins off course. But the next day I had to have it replastered because it crumbled through the excitement LOL
Wel so much for concert storys.Love 'm though
So keep bringing 'm on !!!!!
All the best,
Thunderbaas.
