KB Hallen, Copenhagen 03.09.70 - Vibratory 3 Source Merge (Vibratory 001 / 14.03.2004 / 2CDR)
[Complete Show - Vibratory Stereo Effect mix (3 Sources)]; 71:18 / 23:13) Aud; 1st, 2nd & 5th Source synchronized

Hi Folks this is my final Copenhagen '70 merge.

The last one was kind-a crappy.(for me anyway....)
This one sounds more like a stereo recording then a merge, though at times you are reminded
of the fact you're listening to a merge, nonetheless it's one of the best merges I've heard:)

Up until "Freedom" I mixed 3 sources: Source 1 left, Source 5 right and Source 2 in the middle.
Alot of pitch corrections were done on source 1 and 5. No EQ or filter smilters were applied.

Since Source 5 ends with "Freedom" the rest of the concert consists of the two remaining sources:
Source 1 left and Source 2 on the right.

I remixed the 'pre-Red House' part to omit source 2, leaving
Source 1 and 2 left and right respectively.(in the 'Merge Mix Source 1 and 5' folder)
But Source 2 is still used to fill gaps.

I am tempted to re-do "Hey Baby" since some phasing occurs at the very beginning.
This occurs a few times throughout the merge, though very briefly.
Also source 5 begins to stutter violently during "Hey Baby" followed by a gap then resumes
and continues to stutter well into "AATW". I chose to cover it up with source 2
and by keeping source 5 lower in the mix until the 'stutter-part' was over.
(this isn't the case with the 1 and 5 mix)

Source 2 is the most complete source and fills gaps from the original tapes left and right
so you'll hear some panning going on a few times.

My guess is Jimi played in Eb that evening tuning down only 1/2 step. His voice sounds
like at IOW. When I tried E tuning suddenly Jimi sounded like 1967. D was even worse.
since I wasn't there I'm not 100% sure.

this sounds REALLY good if you crank up the volume
and then walk somewhere away from your speakers
it's like then you can't really hear any of the flaws in the recordings
and it sounds like you're right there in the concert hall
because these nice stereo ambient frequencies really carry a ways
it's great. your neighbors will really dig it too.

I have the other (cut) version from DIME, but this complete version is what I had hoped the other would be.

Who can ever have enough Jimi in their collection. Not me. :-)

Many thanks. Much appreciated.

I want to thank you wholeheartedly for this and all other Vibratory merges. I've been an Hendrix fan for about 22 years, I bought my share of bootlegs when they came out in the early 90s, and never had anyone to share my Hendrix passion with (thank God for the internet!), but having stumbled into this site, a whole new world has opened up for me. I can't believe I'm actually able to listen to the concerts that I have dreamed about ever since reading about their set lists in books like Tony Brown's. And to have many of them sound so good! When I compare to some of those horrible sounding bootlegs I once payed an arm and a leg for, it's really amazing and mind-boggling. Hendrix would be proud to see his music still being enjoyed this way. I have a fondness for Hendrix' 1970 shows, as I feel he was still constantly evolving, no other guitarist even comes close to his genius and imagination, when he was "on".
