View Full Version : Why is ''ATM 184 Winterland 02.03.68 - Composite Rev. A'' thread closed?

Right after DoctorGero posted a message about errors he found
on some tracks the thread was closed.
Why? Shouldn't we be able to discuss the matter?
It's probably another example of EAC-ed audio CDR.
I haven't downloaded the torrent so I can't verify his findings but
I think it would be useful to re-open the thread
and find out if anybody else noticed the same errors.
Mods....?

we can discuss anything and everything, but that doesnt make them clicks dissapear. i did check, they are there.

i probably should have put a message in the thread about the reasoning behind the pulling.

I posted this same disc at Dime - I believe my post came from the original FLAC files, or at the very least SHN files which I converted. There's no CD in the lineage.

OK Johan that's what we needed to know.
I simply don't like to guess when it comes to things like that.

Kcox, I'd say it would be wise to post a new torrent here
(as soon as the site becomes fully functional again)
and give all our members a new chance to download a clean version.
Thanks anyway ....

Someone reported (in the Shoutbox) downloading the same title
from other torrent site
and having the same problems.
I'll check my own copy of the same title and get back to you guys.
You can do the same and check your copies guys...
If you happen to have it from some other torrent site or mailing-group or trade.
Please report your findings here.
Thank you.

I 'm trying to determine which songs/parts are from which source, since I have this idea that maybe these defects are only present on one source. For instance take Killing Floor (track 7). The first 40 sec. of this song has glitches all over it, but when the song goes into another source (0:41), those glitches totaly disappear. maybe, just maybe, this composite was made using an already damaged version of that source.

I just checked the copy of the ATM 184 I have and I found no glitches whatsoever. All songs clear.
This is one more example why we should check torrents more carefully
before uploading it.
For some people it's difficult to check if the title has been uploaded
on the site before, not to mention actually listen to the complete set
before making a torrent of it.
I can understand that mistakes are always possible. One glitch here
and there can be missed by anybody. But when the disc is full of
glitches that's a different story.
For the people who desperately want to upload something and don't
have time to listen to the complete torrent before posting it,
my advice would be:
Please, at least check 30 seconds of every track.
Errors are most common around index marks. Check if there's any
SBE-s (Sector Boundary Errors - you can fix them with Trader's Little
Helper), larger gaps, louder clicks or any other sound that shouldn't
be there at the beginning and the end of every track (first and last
15 seconds of every track).

Is it possible for you to post this glitch free copy here at CT, Emil? That would be amazingly great!!!!

" This is one more example why we should check torrents more carefully

I did..

"For some people it's difficult to check if the title has been uploaded

Yes , I agree, I had two copies of this, one downloaded from Hawkfan on TC, and the Jpio's ATM flac dvd.. The md5 file or the ffp file works fine in both copies, so they are identical.

"For the people who desperately want to upload something and don't

Well, I was not desperated, at list not to upload this Atm..

"we can discuss anything and everything, but that doesnt make them clicks dissapear. i did check, they are there."
PLEASE johanincr can you tell us in wich track/seconds did you found them ? (just for my info..)

I Uploaded the ATM184 files from my tracks dated 25-07-2006 4:21 pm,
this is the date one month before Paul Chapman released them in Jpio,
in Flac, as I uploaded them NO CDR in the middle..

" I just checked the copy of the ATM 184 I have and I found no glitches whatsoever. All songs clear."

Me too listened my copy, first with a Kenwood Hi-Fi eqpt, after with Headphones, I guess they are clear.

Please can you check Emil your copy with this md5 file, uploaded with the torrent? (just for my info..)

OK, just came back home.
Checked my version of ATM 184,
all files verified as OK with the Md5 you posted bellow.
I didn't have time to listen to the complete set
but quick check gave the following results:

Clicks between tracks:
6 & 7
7 & 8
10 & 11

Track 09 - loud click at 0.15
Tracks 10 - two questionable clicks at 0.03 and 0.09

I can carefully check the complete set tomorrow, repair all the errors
I can find (or hear) and upload it here afterwards.
You can check it again and if nothing new is find
we declare it as clean.
Or someone else can do it. I do not mind.
Any other suggestions?
