I couldn't find this tape listed anywhere. So, here it is instead of the pulled ATMs:

"Jimi Hendrix & Curtis Knight - Live Tape"

- Soundboard recording
- Unknown clubs in NY or NJ, 1965/66
- No generation info
- Artwork included.

Note:
I don't know details about the history of this tape
but it sure sounds like a low generation transfer.
None of these tracks were ever released officially.

Track list:
01. Wooly Bully
02. People, People, People
03. Shotgun
04. Something You Got
05. Twist and Shout
06. Walking the Dog
07. Land of 1000 Dances
08. California Night
09. Come On
10. Day Tripper
11. I'm a Man
12. I Feel Good
13. Killing Floor
14. Let's Go
15. Mr. Pitiful
16. Something on You Mind
17. Money
18. Sweet Little Angel
19. Bright Lights, Big City
20. I'll Be Doggone
21. The Lovelights Theme

September 2008.

Next JH & CK upload will be the so called "90 minutes" tape and that will
conclude the series of most important JH & CK recordings currently in circulation and available on this site (except the ATMs, of course).

what is the difference in sound comparing this to the LIVE ATMs?

what 'so-called' 90 minute tape are you referring to?

and do you know for a fact that this is a soundboard recording and not '2 mics in a room' ??

Difference in sound between these and ATMs in my opinion is considerable. Tracks simply sound different. Some better, some not
which makes this tape definitely worth checking.

Well, if Baggy's recordings are often referred to as soundboard these also sound to me like stereo (most tracks, not all) soundboard recordings, at least quality and technically-wise. Until someone can says - no, these are not soundboard but "exactly this and that" I'd say we wont make a huge mistake by calling them that. However, I might be wrong.

"90 minutes simulated stereo tape" as listed on "In From the Storm" site:

George's Club 20, Hackensack, NJ 26.12.65
(Curtis Knight Live material 1965-66 / 73 min
[from 90 min Simulated Stereo tape]) Low Gen
notes:
- The Curtis Knight & The Squires live recordings featuring Jimi
Hendrix are most likely from several different concerts and
rehearsals dec.1965-may 1966, and it's impossible to pinpoint
which tracks were recorded where and when.

thanks emil,

that explains a lot, i appreciate it.

i cant instantly remember where i got the idea of the '2mics in a room' but if i can find the reference again i'll post it. yes, my memory is crumbly today :-)

Your question is absolutely valid, Johan.
I also do remember that 2-mic comentary from somewhere, but if you can't remember where it's from, to expect it from me to remember - isn't realistic - as you know very well - lol!

These recordings went through so many hands since they've been recorded. Studio manipulation, overdubbing, re-overdubbing, cutting,
composing various snippets to make new songs that it makes sometimes really hard to determine are the channels we hear original or result of later studio editing. Even these tracks sound to my ears nearly unedited, many of the songs in fact are. Same is on ATMs. So, to say what exactly are we hearing is a tricky thing. Soundboard? Truth is I don't know. Just guessing..
Maybe the most "vivid" example is beautiful "Something You Got" (with Jimi on vocals and solo guitar) that we have here (same a on ATM) starting in stereo but most of the rest of the track needed to be patched from mono vinyl release (!!??) because no other stereo source exists
(circulates).

emil....thanks a lot for this upload. i completely forgot about the live stuff from this era over the yeras. Peoples Peoples really blows me away. imi was SO good already then (well, of course he was....). Just too bad that the take fades out after some time. is there a complete version on some ATM?
OH boy, and just now here is the Shotgun solo I am listening to.....wow!

Hi Olve, I'm glad you're enjoying it.
Yes, there's a lot of fine tracks among Hendrix/Knight live stuff.
I love "Walking the Dog" rhythm guitar work and solo,
beautiful "Something You Got" (stereo-mono comosite with Jimi singing),
Land of 1000 Dances (solo in the second part of the song - FANTASTIC),
or Mr. Pitiful,... I can go on for ever, lol.
Yes, Jimi was "The Man" even then. I agree.
