Anyone else seen or will see the Experience Hendrix "ensemble" as it's touring the US? I just saw them in Chicago last night and I think it's well worth the money. I was hoping to see Mitch in action but he only sat in for a few songs and I doubt you could call what he did "playing". It appeared as though he was only mimicking playing the drums as you couldn't hear anything from him and they always had another drummer playing. Apparently the years have taken a toll on him. Billy was in great form though and played for quite a few songs. The guitarists who participated were:

Eric Gales
Mato Nanji
Doyle Bramhall II
Johnny Lang
Eric Johnson
Kenny Wayne Shephard
Hubert Sumlin
Buddy Guy
Cesar Rosas
David Hidalgo
Brad Whitford

Songs they covered were (I know I'm forgetting a couple):

Foxy Lady
Hey Joe
Red House
Voodoo Chile
Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
Bold As Love
Angel
Little Wing
I Don't Live Today
Love or Confusion
Are You Experienced
Remember
Fire
May This Be Love

All their performances were great although I think Johnny Lang was a bit out of his league. His solos weren't very fluid and his riffs tended to be repetitive. I was highly considering sneaking in a recorder and recording the event and release a "bootleg" in dedication to all the bootleggers who have provided us with so much Hendrix material. In the end, I decided against it since I wasn't sure what kind of security they'd have and didn't want to get kicked out. Getting there though, I found my concerns were unwanted as they did no checking of your person whatsoever. Oh well.

I saw the show at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston and it was incredible. Much better than last years Mini-Tour of the East Coast, and that was great too.

I have some vids on youtube....

I've been in the hospital all day . . .
I am putting the Tower Show up as soon as my notes are finished.
Yes, you left a couple toonz out :) and yes, the years sadly, have taken a toll on Mitch.
Give me an hour and I'll have this up. Wish the quality was a bit better, but it was my 1st 'taping' of any consequence . . . . . .
THANK YOU for the Guitarist list :) I only remembered Buddy Guy & Eric. . . .
Janie was there & opened the show. Did she show at yours?

We were about 10-15 minutes late so we came in when they were just about to start the new song. Probably better me and my brother didn't see her open if she did; we planned on booing as soon as she came out. Speaking of heckling, they had to escort a guy out who kept yelling "Hendrix!" when Buddy Guy was playing. Not sure if it was an ego thing or what but for all his individual songs, Buddy only played his own material; he was the *only* guitarist who did that. The only Hendrix song he played was after his set was over; he came out with some other guitarists and did Red House. The heckler, who was sitting a few rows down from us, was not happy about that. As he walked by us he complained out loud that he paid to hear Hendrix songs, not Buddy Guy's.
