As far as I'm aware, all the tracks you listed are genuine alternate mixes. They are edited for release because every recording is edited for release.
Not sure what this thread has devolved to...
What a load of shite.
So...wait, you say my suggestion is crap, and then say (basically) the same thing? :p
He's a slippery character - can't prove anything, but I can't put anything out of mind, either. For one reason...
A handful of good ideas does not offset the damage he caused.
I call bullscheisse on the story behind these tapes, btw. More likely than anything, Douglas himself either gave these tapes out...or...
Thank you very much for sharing this!
Thanks to Freezer (RIP) too. :)
His name was apparently Art Parr.
The only Zeppelin recording of his that I've heard is Baton Rouge 1975 - he also...
The liners do indeed say that, based on the recently recovered multi-tracks, the intention appears to have been that "Bolero" would proceed "Hey Baby."
Listening to them...it makes sense. I like...
I agree. Up until this point, we've only heard the Douglas alterations and composites. Your theory sounds in-line with the liner notes for this release and also WCSB.
Under "Message to Love":

Can he really judge based on a vinyl rip?
He's dead. We wouldn't have anything that we have (and love) if he'd lived.
Didn't really end up listening to the NPR stream...listened to a few of the tracks, but haven't really dissected them. Will be picking this up later today or tomorrow, but, it's kind of "meh"-worthy...
...Why? The extra tracks on Valleys were lifted from Hear My Music.
LOL! Good one!
What are you using to download/record the stream, JL? I've installed programs before, but they've been quite iffy.
Boo.
I guess you'd rather we get nothing at all.
I've never heard of any of these! Fascinating.
One of them has ended; the other is still going.
Not sure if anyone has seen, but supposed "promo" copies of the album are on eBay.
Btw: Is the version of "Izabella" (from the Amazon snippets) an earlier take? Sounds really rough.
Seems like there's a lot of VoN bashing in the thread...I still really enjoy the album. Maybe not as an "album," per se - I'm not sure if everything flows together like a properly crafted album...
God, you guys are harsh. If this was on any of the boots, you'd be praising it as showing the development of the song...
I'll jump on the "Power of Soul" gimme gimme train, too.
:p
Thanks for the detailed info, stplsd.
How d'you figure? The backing vocals sound like the boys.
...So, why did Eddie (basically) mix Larry out of "Easy Blues"?
