  1. Re: "Until We Meet Again : The Last Weeks Of Jimi Hendrix"

    Sick behaviour.

Depressingly it seems the truth is still "out there" with multiple alleged "testimonies" from the same persons, and never from the horses' mouths, always second-hand, always with a...

    Re: New Dagger Release

    Awesome, stplsd.

I have a request, if/when you have time and energy. I've always struggled to hear the lyrics of "Wipe The Sweat", Jimi's first recorded lead vocal trading verses with Lonnie...
  5. Re: Handel & Hendrix In London Flat Tours Jan/Feb 2016

I visited the museum in July. Highly recommended; quite remarkable to be in this room so well known from photographs, although almost everything is replicas except the mirror over the mantlepiece.

  6. Re: NOEL REDDING - Guitar For The Practicing Musician 1991

Noel is referring to the tracks that he and Mitch overdubbed, which first surfaced on the Studio Haze boot in the 90s. By npw every track has been released in some form by EH....

Yeah, Don doesn't sound like a professional or even good amateur player; he's very limited.

    Re: Monterey

It's great fun but not his finest hour as a guitar player. The showboating kind of detracts from his musicianship a bit, except Killin' Floor.

    Re: Hendrix and Heroin?

Yeah, seen that before. It's not hard to draw the conclusion that Jimi really had a heroin problem in 1970, but some fans find that hard to take.

    Re: pre-Experience fakes (non-Hendrix tracks)

Groovemaker aka Groove, Two In One Goes aka You're Only Hurting Yourself and Psycho aka Win Your Love aka I Wonder What It Takes are not fakes, they feature Jimi on guitar, some versions have with...

    Re: New Dagger Release

Not really. Several of the tracks are upgrades in sound, and the fake audience noise and echo is dialled down considerably - I'm happy with that.

    Re: New Dagger Release

Haven't got my copy yet :-/.
But, it's true that some of the tracks feature a second accomplished rhythm and lead guitar player, must be Harry Jensen. He has a couple of solos (Shotgun and Wooly...

Yeah, on some tracks you can hear a small group of people talking, perhaps Carol Shiroky among them.

    Re: New Dagger Release

Hopefully the location and dates are from tape boxes or other reliable documentation, that would settle a few question marks. I don't see why the tracks couldn't have been recorded in New Jersey;...

Re: 1967-08-08 Studio 76, New York

Get That Feeling would be from the July session; Jimi plays fuzz bass on that track, not guitar.

He was great, but he played the bass like a guitarist, like Noel. Billy Cox is a "real" bass player.

  22. Re: Who plays on Jimi/ Jimmy Jam on second guitar ?

It's Dave Holland to these ears; I've listened to him a great deal on Miles' recordings, and it's Dave's style. Roland was the bass player of Buddy Miles Express.

Keith and Neil are both very pathetic old buggers with slivers of talent left and can f**k off :-).
  25. Re: 1966-01-21 Atlantic Studios, New York City, NY

I think Ray Sharpe is supposed to play the lead guitar on this. Which leaves the chord work to Dupree and Jimi with the dampened string part, "chucka chucka...".
