"He grabbed a knife out of his hat, slit the guitar strings, and made like a calf roper and launched the Stratocaster against the projection screen"
That's the first I have heard that he ever did that. Really? I doubt it.
pdf is only download. click photo file and it will just display.
1st ad for Knight in village voice. The previous 2 ads were for the 'Wild' opening 2 nights acts, same groups different order, Monti Rock III, Chambers Bros., Jon & Ray and Company, next week had Chambers top billed,Jon & ray, monti at the bottom
Also has a Richard Fariña (Mimi Baez' (Joan's sister) husband and musical partner) obit. - he was killed in a stupid motorcycle accident that week. His mate Dylan reportedly had a rather nasty accident a few months later(neither wore helmets)

Frank Zappa: "Rock journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read."
2nd and last ad for knight in VV. Next ad is for Carl Holmes and the Commanders (no support act. For one week only), following this the next two and final cheetah ads in VV are for a two group show I cannot find anything about: The Greemies, and The Last Men - any info would be welcome?
Interesting that Clarence Ashley was playing close by at the Gas Light, he recorded a version of the folk song 'Little Sadie which some have deliberately confused with Hey Joe in order to claim (Trad. Arr. by) royalties.

The only ad for the Blue Flame in New york times 66-09-13 NYT. p.145
Frank Zappa: "Rock journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read."
But the blue flame are advertised (only once) two days later in Village voice.
Village v (on the 1st sep.) has ad for Blues bag at Go Go on 4th with amongst others John Hammond, then at bottom of list 'plus other special guests' (blues project? blue flame?); blues project are on the next days ad in NYT for the 'bag' & as 'returning' on 23rd. Some other paper (New York Post?) oddly has the blue flame still appearing on the 23rd - the day Jimi caught the flight to London, again with 'Tim Hardin, times square two, John Hammond and the Blue Flame'. This line up but minus the Blue Flame on the bill were 1st advertised as 'now appearing' on 7th in New york times, with blues project coming on Friday the 23rd, and on the 8th in village voice 'now appearing' - no mention of blues project. Again in NYT on 9th same as ad on 7th, the blue flame 1st appear in a NYT ad on 13th when judy roderick replaces tim Hardin at top of the bill agin with 'Blues proj coming 23rd' Then on 19th NYT the ad changes to 'Opening Tonite' Junior wells and the Buddy Guy trio (Blue proj still coming on 23rd.), 20th NYT: Junior wells and the Buddy Guy trio (Blue proj coming Friday.); 22nd NYT: 'Coming Tomorrow' BLUES PROJECT and junior wells blues band; 23rd Jimi on a plane to England, NYT: starts tonite BLUES PROJECT and junior wells blues band
Simultaneously one, possibly two, other papers (2 ads) are advertising the Hardin/ Hammond/ Flame show!?"

Eric B gives the 1st mention of JH - but not his name (on Thursday 22-9-66 in Disc), "Chas Chandler is handling a blues singer in New York". Note the timing, the journalist likely got this info just a couple of days before Jimi left the US.
Next was Alley Cat (two weeks later in NME on Friday 7-10-66), by name, although he has him as just 'Jim' Hendrix : Note both call him 'a blues singer' and this 1st mention of his name coincides with Mitch joining the group - two days earlier (which is when the article was likely written).
