No Jimi, but anyway: SF gets the news on capes fashion in London. And a timely warning about LSD from an 'expert' - the festival started next day and there was, allegedly, lots of free Owsley acid - lower dose than his usual, we are told

    Re: Newspaper & Magazine Article Scans: 1960's - 1970's

'festival is on' (p.4). [from this it appears capacity of arena to have been 7,100 - that would include those on the temporary seats on the ground ? Adler reckoned about 10,000 got in at some point?]
same page 'Katmandu Everybody's talking about Buddah's Birthday'
And articles about SF concern over hippies in general (in 2 bits. P.7)
'Golf Notebook' Swingers at Monterey (p.36) even manages to work in some light hearted references to fest along with photo of Michelle (in 2 bits) even a mention of troops at Fort Ord

Gleason's 'Ad-libs' details of airplane, hendrix fillmore gigs, 49b. "Among the events that merit attention" are not apparently, in his book, Hendrix at the Fillmore

Also 2 tales of hippies losing the plot p.4

    Re: Newspaper & Magazine Article Scans: 1960's - 1970's

Gleason's 'Memories of A Pop Festival' - continues his petty vendetta against Laura Nyro and only has some story about a guy with a harmonica in relation to Hendrix - nothing actually about him or his performance

Also p.4, article on "The Endless Summer" movie (pdf download only)

D.A. Pennebaker on Monterey: "And he [Bob Raphelson] said, 'How would you like to do a film about a music festival in California?' And my just having seen 'Endless Summer' my ears lit up."

& p.27 on the Beatles' part in the "Our World" global TV broadcast (all you need is love) and their taking LSD (pdf download only)

radio dates again, Jimi gets his name in the headline this time. Was the Easy Beat date cancelled due to the Stockport (Manchester), Tabernacle Club gig? Or?

Georgie Fame taking LSD? Surely not!
'My Friend Jack' ['eats sugarlumps', no doubt with acid in them judging by the lyrics and not just Jack either, eh boys?] by 'the Smoke' had briefly entered entered some UK charts recently. It was quickly taken off the BBC playlist, we are told?
