"Variety Club luncheon photos, on some kind of glossy paper" ('glossy' was a bit lazy) "which yellowed badly" ( I assumed) Rupe who has the piece and has time to examine it more thoroughly assures me it is actually just ordinary newspaper overprinted yellow, this is what I assume gave it a slight sheen under the lights in the library.

'Readers Club' [pen-pals page] - was surprisingly quite international. They were asked to state their favourite music "Stars", very few contributors listed Jimi.

1st ad for JHE official fan club was on the 18th, it was at the bottom of the charts page, it was only advertised for 6 issues. This is from 8-6-67, but the text never changed.
    Were any CTT members, members?
Interesting how close (8 doors up the street) Georgie Fame's 'club' address was?

    Re: Newspaper & Magazine Article Scans: 1960's - 1970's

    "Britain's" Top 50 & a new entry for WCM in the R&B chart (p.11b).

And one I missed 27-4-67 1st time the Mirror's "Britain's Top 50" chart acknowledges it is compiled by the Retailer [either now, or shortly to be owned by Tell-Time, a Billboard (USA) company] and proclaiming it as "The National Chart" when actually it was the dodgiest of the big 4 music papers. When anyone talks of a record being at (an exact #) "in the British charts" it's just twaddle. Same goes for US, it should be qualified with "Billboard", "Cashbox", "Variety" or even "Record World" (if it had its own chart?), the US charts were complete pish anyway as they were not just based on sales, but radio play and other bollocks (and still are)

Richard “Tony” D’Antonio was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Cash Box magazine Chart Director, Kevin Hughes on March 9, 1989. Prosecutors maintained that Hughes was shot and killed because he was attempting to clean a crooked business practice. D’Antonio had worked with Chuck Dixon, a record promoter and former Cash Box employee who died in 2001. According to testimonies, Dixon was angered that Hughes attempted to halt a scheme that allowed promoters and artists to pay Dixon for a position on the Cash Box chart. During a trial in September 2003, witnesses testified that D’Antonio collected bribes up to $2,000 to make sure a single charted.

Actually it wasn't glossy paper, for some reason they printed that page in yellow. I have it, or at least part of it. It's on the reverse of a review of AYE by Jeremy Walsh, which I probably put on the CD of cuttings I sent you?
