Is there a way to put Flac files onto an Ipod classic?

I have an Ipod that is specifically designated for only my Hendrix stuff. I am wondering if there is a way to format a 160gig Ipod to play Flac files on it as opposed to mp3.

Just be aware that your iPod Classic is not going to last forever. Their hard drives fail eventually. Google Play Music lets you upload and play back your FLAC files from the cloud where they should be safe for quite a while.

I am very aware and paranoid about losing not only my Hendrix but all my music. I've got it saved on multiple devices. Including my Macbook and two different external hard drives. But I want to put my Hendrix that's in Flac on my 160 gig Ipod for the convenience. Any clue on how to do this?

    Have a look at Rockbox.

Don't have an Ipod myself but just from reading....I don't see any reason to re-format an Ipod...
the Ipod should have a USB port for transferring files...thing is a FLAC file will have to go thru a conversion to 'Apple lossless(.m4a)..this should give you all the info you need about that

if you don't have a USB 2.0 cable...you'll need that...

once the files are on there it's up to you what player you prefer.
NOTE: be leary of Rockbox or any kind of software/program/utility that even mentions a 'firmware' change to a unit....you use the wrong one or if it doesn't take, it'll make the Ipod completely useless....a 'firmware' change alters the very root code on the chip...if you screw that up...you won't even be able to run another firmware to put it back the way it was....firmware changes the very 'heart' of the unit...many a DVD player(we all did it to make the DVD player region free and remove Macrovision) bit the dust, from people not being sure what they were doing.
