Lyric question - Gypsy Eyes (home recording)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrdbur7Eh2c

Anyone know what he is saying at 0:19?

It sounds something like, "Touch me while I, ask for a plate/play" ... ?

    Thanks!

wasn't Gypsy Eyes about his mother, or is that also one of those myths?

Never heard of anything like this. Anyway, the lyrics in the final version of the song sure don't fit that story.

I read about it too. But remember where... In any case, ElectricGypsy makes a reference to it, assuming it's about Lucille:

"In the third verse, Lucille tells Jimi why she had to get away:

I remember the first time I saw you
The tears in your eyes look like they are tryin' to say
'Oh, little boy, you know I could love you
But first I must make my getaway
Two strange men fighting to the death over me today
I'll try and meet you by the old highway'."

    EGypsy, page 316

I remember vaguely to read somewhere else that the 2 men fighting would be Jimi's father and one of Lucille's 'boyfriends'.

But I also have this slight idea of the song being about one of the famous Jimi ladies, being 'the 2 strange men' Jimi himself and
    another pretendent.

    In resume, I don't know.

Nice! Yeah I hear "ask for a bed" now that you mention it (just his accent I guess), I still hear "touch me WHILE I, ask for a bed" though, but who knows

I hear 'can't handle it alone' instead of 'can't eat alone'

Re: Lyric question - Gypsy Eyes (home recording)

thanks to the community i already have enough information to start writing the second draft of the transcription i have found many mistakes most of them products of my own mind , this shows how language music and lyrics can change over time and mistranslation , egg crisis you cracked it for me its jargon i do not fully understand the word pity does not exist its ( bed ) fits perfectly by tone timeing color mood and key everyone of you were all over it , watch how its not even the same song that i wrote down and gets closer to the truth as we translate it again a lot of the words were incorrect because i corrected them to what i was thinking and not what jimi was singing .
we will need to compare listen to and correct it more ( i wasnt even close ) ...
