    Freedom: Atlanta Pop

Starting a thread about the full EH Atlanta release (as advertised on the back of the single). Will it be vinyl, CD, DVD (with multiple camera options)???? All of the above? When will it release? Will they add any bonus footage in line with the Hear My Train DVD.

If a summer release and 7/4 would be an appropriate date I would think we'll get the announcement in a.month or less. If a fall release we probably won't get an announcement until the summer

    Re: Freedom: Atlanta Pop

I'm a bit doubtful if the last part of the concert will be included, because Jimi's guitar was horribly out of tune by then. Even if they would speed correct the notes Jimi played, it would sound very uninspired, because Jimi was quite pissed off due tot the tuning problems.

    Re: Freedom: Atlanta Pop

The main feature may well not include all of the show for reasons stated and any other factors in consideration to a commercial release but it would be hoped that the bonus section includes at least any material not deemed suitable for the main feature.
We do have plenty of bonus material that could [and should / must] be included that has yet to be seen. This and the new mix for two channel, a new surround sound mix [they really work EK hard at EH!] looks like making this a must have and definitive release for us.

Ill no doubt sucker for the Bluray, vinyl and CD.

Yes, this is one of these funny recurring things that pop up at every new forthcoming release...

Everybody knows about the EH work proposal, so what will or will not occur is not a mystery.
It has been publicly stated by the triumvirate: only material that won't jeopardize Jimi's established status (according their vision) will be released.

If superior performance in excellent sound quality and commercially adequate format, on official releases.
If superior performance in subpar sound quality, or in commercially non adequate format (jams and such), on Dagger.
Anything out of this work frame will not happen.

"Complete things" with warts, farts, burps and all, I'm sorry to tell: will not happen. Even on Dagger.
And, yes!, I could like that too...
I believe it was McDermott who said: (paraphrasing) "some things are better be left to the bootlegs".

I remember similar comments pre Koln, but they are few and far between

Pretty sure Dagger died when Sony came into the picture(2010)...I mean why release the stuff on Dagger when it can be released mainstream.....

I don't know about new Dagger releases but I do know that EH is still promoting its catalogue. A few days ago they promoted the Oakland Colisseum concert on Facebook. If it is viable to them, they may add new releases in the future me thinks.

Well yeah...I mean they did the "Hear My Music' LP released for RSD last November.....I meant that I don't see anything new in the way of released material coming from Dagger.

I used to like McDermott, used to. I saw a Guitar magazine where he, Eddie and Billy I believe were discussing Jimi's top 10 performances. Pretty much everything John mentioned was a sales pitch. Really? How about releasing some of those Electric Lady studio jams or still unreleased SBDs. I find it laughable that McDermott wrote Setting The Record Straight then turns out more or less just like Douglas and Branton, only concerning himself w/ mainstream profits while keeping all of the good stuff for himself.

You seem to forget McDermott and Kramer are on the EH payroll. They are company men, so they will always spout the EH company line and act as salesmen for EH products, with never a dissenting word.

Folks, I said it before and I'll repeat it here.
If you want to have a "bash" at EH or members of that company that's down to you but start a thread and keep these comments confined to that thread. I for one don't want to be reading this stuff in every thread created.

Simply title any EH bashing thread as such and off you go ........................................
