listening now on vinyl, smoking show. Hear My Train is huge, killer version. As others have said huge improvement over Stages. Great pictures too, especially on the back cover. *I feel fine quotes in Hey Joe.
    Happy to have this set!

Sound from the film crew tapes has been patched in. There is a big difference in sound but it's only brief and it doesn't really matter as the beginning of the song is such a mess anyway.

from the booklet in the 2CD set.
so the technical notes state that actual multi track didn't start to record until AATW already began(which explains the Atlanta multi tracks that's been floating around for awhile... I always thought it was just half the reel or something and the other half just never showed up to share) following this...then disc 1 is the camera crew audio and disc 2 is the multi track except for the 'patch' at the beginning of AATW.

No they mean that during AATW the multi track didn't start to record that particular song until Jimi was already under way. The other tracks are evidently from the multi-tracks.

I agree. The statement is poorly worded (IMO), but listening to this set through nice headphones, I don't think there's any way the first half of the show is from a non-multi-track source. It just sounds too good; Mitch's cymbal work in particular just has too much stereo separation (as I noted while listening to "Fire" just now).
