    Re: Next Release?

No clues at all in those facebook photos, not even an old tape box w/writing on it. Frustrating! It's nice to know something's coming down the pike tho.

Maybe live Curtis Knight material. I wouldn't put it past EH. Wish it was Berkeley 1st show, RAH

My bet is RAH, the soundtrack

PS on the EH facebook page, there is a third picture of two reels turning, and the right reel has a sticker with a date on it, but upside down. Who can read it? It also has "James" (?) written on it.

    Do you mean this one?

This is the picture upside down, but I couldn't make anything of the label. If EK and JMcD say they are working on Electric Church it doesn't make a connection to RAH, I would say. I also can't belief this is connected to the Biopic project, because they are talking about a new item that is being released quite soon, as I understand it. The production of a film takes more than a year I would guess.

    Re: Next Release?

My YouTube channel got a copyright strike for Burning Desire from 12/31/69 Late show the other day. A "Live at the Fillmore East" re-issue from Sony still hasn't appeared, either. Perhaps a revised edition is in the works? An official Band of Gypsys Boxset would really do some justice.

I take that to mean that they finished the Freedom single and the Electric Church DVD. They do not hint on any connection, do they?

EH didn't have the rights on the RAH movie - even though they probably completely refurbished it for Goldstein - but they have the rights on the soundtrack. That is why I think their next release will be the RAH CD.

Talking of Goldstein, he has to pay pay back Sly Stone 5M$ in royalties.

I am not sure if this is a motivation for pulling out of the deal with EH but I guess he wants to generate some income now and looking for ways to release the RAH movie. EH will simultanuously release the soundtrack. A bit as they did with the All By My Side early Hendrix movie and the release of the Curtis Knight sessions (and even investing in it by buying the rights from Chalpin).

    Re: Next Release?

It's not that I don't want to see RAH released or a Fillmore box set, it's just that I've heard these before. I've listened to these shows in varying sound quality for years and years. I would much rather EH finally just release 'Black Gold'. Something that I've wanted to hear since I read about it years ago as a kid. I would of course welcome the releases of RAH or the BOG shows, etc.

    Re: Next Release?

I say another PPX is a given as we have been promised 3.
This may be that one, or it may not.

I like the suggestion of a Berkely release :-)

Brings back horrible memories from the 70s: only a few rather obscure official LPs with unimaginative covers like War Heroes, Loose Ends, Crash Landing, and Midnight Lightning, while the record bins were full off Curtis Knight records with lavish fold out sleeves.
Kut muziek, as we say in Holland !!#$"#"

    Re: Next Release?

Well, this is the chance to present the PPX material in hopefully upgraded sound and in the right context, like they did with the first release. Historically important, and Jimi's on fire on many of the "live" songs. If it's those live tapes, bring them on.
