Definitely do not hold your breath. Permit me to pontificate :

For a legacy to continue for multiple generations, the business minds at EH know that the Hendrix releases must forever be piece-mealed out over time. The 'owners' will impress this business model to inheritors and therefore insure the estate as a profitable entity for their children and children's children, etc. ... . Most/All of us 'original' fans that 'Experienced' The Man in person will certainly not be around for these. indeed, many have already passed and were unable to indulge in what has been produced since. Impress upon your offspring (and offspring's offspring, etc.) the benefits of being a Hendrix Fan(atic) and they will have the fortunate opportunity to remain 'Experienced' and revel in yet-to-be-discovered/re-released/re-mastered/re-etc. Hendrix soundscapes.

Yes but so much better than the Douglas years. He didn't even take care of the tapes.

While I am excited about this release I assume this means further delays to RAH and any other Europe 1969 releases. Goldstein most likely won't deliver on his "IMAX" movie promise with this coming out. Beginning to accept none of the Goldstein stuff will ever be released.

I dont think there is any coordination between EH and Goldstein anymore. If RAH doesn't come out, it's only because Goldstein is a joker.

Goldstein says that Steve Gold's widow now owns the rights. So maybe she will throw something together for the grand kids college tuition in the next 20 years? But back on subject. John Chappina took some great shots of the 12.31.69 First show as seen in his book "Last Daze Of The Sixties", but I guess they aren't interested in historical accuracy as much as us. Hope they do release this in September like the Winterland boxset in 2011, but being that they haven't announced it yet I would say that's subject to change. They might even really milk it and make a single for Record Store Day like with Atlanta. Whatever they do, just hurry up and take my money already

EH were in contact with Chappina a while back so that indicates the use of some of his shots for this set I would have thought.

Machine Gun Jimi Hendrix The Fillmore East 12/31/1969 (First Show)

    Editorial Reviews

As the '60s came to a close, Jimi Hendrix pushed the boundaries of funk, rock and R&B with a brand new group, Band of Gypsys. Together with bassist Billy Cox and drummer Buddy Miles, Hendrix unveiled stunning, newly written material across four shows at the legendary Fillmore East in New York City. Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69 marks the first time Band of Gypsys' first show has ever been released in its entirety, newly mixed by Eddie Kramer from the original 1" eight-track masters.

Bolded statement is the best news I've read on the Hendrix front in a long, long time. Let's hope the Bernie Grundman trend continues with the mastering too!
