    Alan Douglas

Is it documented anywhere if/which Alan Douglas actually oversaw/produced any sessions in 1969/70?

I met Douglas once in his Beverly Hills office back when he was still in charge. He was very pleasant and gifted me an autographed (By him)copy of "And a Happy New Year" and some promo items for a Jimi film he never completed called "A Vision Heard". I wish I'd held on to that poster it might be worth something on Ebay!

I think it's documented that he got jimi some "stuff", man...sorry, couldn't resist...
--but pretty peculiar and funny (as in weird) to pat his own back as more of a drug dealer than a producer in that soundtrack film...not to belittle your experience of meeting him back in the day and your positive memory... but he sure looked/presented himself as a bit seedy in that interview in the film...

Interesting to note that, if it's true. While Douglas would seemingly provide Jimi with drugs, didn't Kramer (apparently) refuse Jimi drug-use while working with him in the studio?

Not sure about your definition of drug use, but I remember well these photos posted on KramerArchives.com

Jimi Hendrix at The Record Plant studios, NYC, 1968, recording "Electric Ladyland" -- "The Smoking Panel"
    Design by Peter Kavanaugh

Even though Jimi smoked grass he was never too stoned to work diligently and with tremendous focus on the task at hand. This series of photos shows Jimi very relaxed and utilizing a unique system for smoking a joint and a cigarette at the same time. Even smoking was a "stereophonic" experience.

I suppose I was wrong! I did say "apparently," though. I think I might have picked that up from a biography...still, it might have been refering to "harder" drugs?

To me, he doesn't put himself in a very good light... Check out his interview in the great film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070242/soundtrack

This is what EK says in this months Record Collector mag.
"As for the drugs, i was obviously aware of what was going on but tried to keep myself focused." This in reference to Jimi, drugs and the studio. He then recounts an incident from 1967 which involved smoke (you know the type !!!), air- conditioning system and EK being carried out ........................... sounds wild and fun. No one got to bogart the joint that night
    Groovy.
