So what was this Trash Man - something new, or what?

Not new....was originally released on Dagger 'Hear My Music'...it's the session track that Douglas edited made into Trash Man on Midnight Lightning

Surprisingly the Hamburg 67 7" 33 EP was issued. Must have been licenced from the radio station as there is no apparent EH or Sony link!

Listed on the sleeve, the intro and five trax and is stated as mono.

the new single is 33 RPM not 45 RPM. While it sounds good for what it is I feel disappointed and am a litlle miffed at the advertising. There is nothing new on this and since it is not 45 RPM is just a duplication of other releases.(BSOTS and Hear My Music) A pointless limited edition release. I probably would not have bought this had I realized this was a 33 1/3 release.

I was wondering if this US pressing was the same as the EU in terms of rpm! It is!!

An RSD release and I have to wonder just what buyers expect? Something new to their collection or is this day more about marketing ?

The only difference between the EU Mannish Boy 7" and the US press is that the US has a number. Anyone able to tell me where the US version was cut / pressed?

I can say that both of the EU RSD#s were pressed in the same plant in Germany.

So is this an official release or a bootleg?

Official or it would not have made RSD, at least here in the UK.

Like I say, it must be licenced from the broadcast station which would not require authorisation from either EH or the catalogue licence holder Sony.

I hear they are going for double the shop price on e bay!

I cannot see any indicators as to where the US version was pressed on my copy......

Discogs lists this as unofficial. They are not always right about everything though. See description below.

Re: RSD 2018: Jimi Hendrix - Mannish Boy/ Trash Man "7

Yep, discog's is as wrong as it is right!!

Not a truly trustworthy site for information.

It was thought pre release that this was unofficial and I guess Discog's went with that and someone added that info' without checking.
Maybe they will update it, I doubt it as I see lots of errors that have never been altered / corrected even when they clearly are incorrect!!

Like I say, not licenced from EH or Sony but none the less, if this is from the Broadcast Station then it is legit. A lot like those direct BBC releases I would think. That may be enough for some to say its not legit even when it clearly would be.

But if the radio station did not issue it [regardless of label] then its a boot!

It sounds of less quality than I have heard this recording, or remember hearing this recording so it may well be sourced from collectors recording and be a boot.

    Interesting none the less :-)
