Some tapes from 1968 [FD Cleanups]

So I have pretty much completed cleanups of every show available, but having issues with torrenting, my capacity to share has been limited. So I will have to resort to Mega, with apologies to those who cannot access it. I have had some of these ready for a long time...so I thought I'd get a few out. I did a search and I don't think I have shared these before...

    1968-08-03 Dallas [FD Cleanup]
Moody Coliseum, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, USA
    Saturday 3 August 1968

    01 - Intro
    02 - Dear Mr Fantasy
    03 - Rock Me Baby
    04 - Foxy Lady
    05 - I Don't Live Today
    06 - Hey Joe
    07 - Fire
    08 - Red House
    09 - Purple Haze
    10 - Wild Thing
11 - Dear Mr Fantasy [EH Compressed Source]
12 - Rock Me Baby [EH Compressed Source]
13 - Foxy Lady [EH Compressed Source]
    14 - I Don't Live Today [EH Compressed Source]
15 - Hey Joe [EH Compressed Source]
16 - Fire [EH Compressed Source] - see fixed track below
17 - Red House [EH Compressed Source]
18 - Purple Haze [EH Compressed Source]
19 - Wild Thing [EH Compressed Source]

Here is link to fixed file Track 16 Fire- my apologies!

Lineage: ATM 169 Way Down In Texas Land Rev A FLAC> Adobe Audition (NR, EQ, Comp, Speed Correction)> FLAC
EH Compressed Sources from Youtube(compressed audio)to FLAC> Adobe Audition (Declicked, NR, EQ, Comp, Speed Correction)>FLAC

Have included the cleanup of EH distributed transfer, as it sounds a bit better than ATM - but as it is compressed, it is just for comparison.

Some of the EH transfers of audience tapes have been better source material than some of the previous transfers - but of course they are only in a compressed form (via YouTube) so I have specially marked them so these won't be passed off as uncompressed. I was wondering whether they should be included at all - but some of them produced better results than what was previously available - compression and all.

1968-08-11 Jimi Hendrix Experience [FD Cleanup]
    Col Ballroom
    Davenport, Iowa

Lineage: FLAC from Vinyl> Adobe Audition (Declicked, NR, EQ, Comp, Speed Correction)>FLAC
EH Compressed Sources from Youtube(compressed audio)to FLAC> Adobe Audition (Declicked, NR, EQ, Comp, Speed Correction)>FLAC

    01 - Intro
    02 - Are You Experienced?
    03 - Lover Man
    04 - Foxy Lady
    05 - Red House
    06 - I Don't Live Today
    07 - Fire
08 - Intro [EH Compressed Source]
09 - Are You Experienced [EH Compressed Source]
10 - Lover Man [EH Compressed Source]
11 - Foxy Lady [EH Compressed Source]
12 - Red House [EH Compressed Source]
    13 - I Don't Live Today [EH Compressed Source]
14 - Fire [EH Compressed Source]

Original Notes: This is taken directly from my 2-record boot Lp. This came out in the early 1980s and at the time was the only generally available source for this show. I kept this Lps in good condition, but this is not the definitive transfer, some snaps, crackles and pops along the way. I'm sure there are better, but didn't see it on the tracker...so here ya go! Jimi in Iowa!!!!

FD Notes: Davenport - was taken from the vinyl source (transferred to FLAC) because it actually sounded the best to me...EH also released a decent transfer, and it was interesting to see their take on the speed of AYE? I had previously "speed corrected" it to A Flat, but it sounded slow...as it always seems to be in A including EH transfer, I suspect this was played in regular tuning.

So AYE is stereo (where is that tape?) - and in standard tuning, while the rest of the show is in mono and E flat tuning.

The Intro on the vinyl version of Davenport is slightly truncated, as there is not much missing except audience noise and tuning, I elected to leave it with the shorter intro.

Tax Free (Missing From Tape) - such a pity...

1968-02-25 Civic Opera House, Chicago [FD Cleanup]
    (possibly 1st show?)

    Set List:

    01. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
    02. Fire
    03. The Wind Cries Mary
    04. Foxy Lady
    05. I Don't Live Today
    06. Hey Joe
    07. Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?
    08. Manic Depression
    09. Like A Rolling Stone (in fragments)
    10. Purple Haze (ending cut)

FLAC CTT (JHE - Civic Opera House, Chicago 1968-02-25 AUD <<UPGRADE>> from Dime)> Adobe Audition (NR, EQ, Comp)> FLAC

This tape is rated as "reasonable"...

1968-05-10 Fillmore East (2nd Show) [FD Cleanup and Speed Correction]

    01 - Lover Man
    02 - Fire
    03 - Foxy Lady
    04 - Red House
    05 - Hey Joe
06 - Sunshine of Your Love
    07 - Hear My Train A Comin'
08 - Please Crawl Out Your Window
    09 - Purple Haze
    10 - Wild Thing (fragment)

Lineage ATM093 FLAC > Adobe Audition (EQ, Comp, Speed Correction) > FLAC

As this was a good quality tape, I didn't go overboard with the EQing etc, but ATM093 source had speed issues. The first three tracks are fine (Eb tuning) but Red House slows down (can be easily heard near the end of the track on raw source) - that got corrected up to Bb, but then after Red House slow down, the tape speeds up almost a semi-tone - so the songs after Red House were checked to make sure it was Eb tuning all the way. Sounds right now.

ATM093 has only a fragment of Wild Thing - I couldn't find a longer version in the "archives" - if anyone has it - would be much obliged.
