I agree. It's a small matter but I wish EH would stop giving these releases throw away titles. They should be like the definitive Miles Davis and Coltrane sets. Just call it Jimi Hendrix: The Complete Fillmore East Concerts 1969-1970.

Jimi makes some flippant comment off the top of his head and it becomes "the title"...

I remember back in the days of BTYB releases through the Hey Joe mailing list, I designed a few covers for some of the releases. I used "Watch out for the Fuzz" as the title of the Berkeley 3CD set (I used Berkeley student riots as images for the cover LOL) so I ain't surprised to see Janie doing same dumb thing with this one.

But, real question is, has anyone compared it to our much loved 6CD Box of Gypsys compilation and can they indicate if there are any differences to the track list of this new EH product, if anything is not in same order as what is on the Box and what is new/extended on the EH set compared to the Box. Like is the truncated Earth Blues from the 1/1/70 now going to have the missing intro?

Can anyone take on an analysis of the Box song listings and order and timing, and compare it to the new EH set's order and timings and indicate what is different, longer, missing, out of order etc.?

I am sure this will be done. Probably by more than one person. The timings from the boxset are already being posted at SHMF so once this baby is released the analysis will begin

So a complete Who Knows & Stone Free from 12/31/69 2nd set, Lover Man & Steal Away from 1/1/70 2nd Set is about the sum total of benefits over and above the ATM Box of Gypsys. In theory you could grab just those four, drop em into your existing and way you go. Cover art'll prolly be interesting to see, though one thing I've noticed lately is that when sharing (read: torrents), people don't even bother with a cover pic any more, what to speak of booklet material. Must be this new 'phone age' where the immediate hit - the audio - is all that counts.

Hey I just put this handy table together that compares track times for various releases and it looks like its not possible to copy it into this message. Don't worry, its on the JPIO group and on Facebook in a group called
    Experience Jimi Hendrix

    Take care,
    Andy

At least 5 songs from the 2nd set, 12/31 are not included. Why is Mcdermott doing this??? Why??? The guy is a prick!

I'm sure audio quality would be much better, and didn't Box of Gypsys have a few AUDs in there too
    Is the microphone on?

Message to Love (Live at the Fillmore East, NY - 12/31/69 - 2nd Set - Audio) - official EH channel

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQJDZyFi7ig

    EH even included the lyrics:

    Lyrics:
Well, I travel at a speed
    Of a reborn man
I got a lot of love to give
From the mirrors of my hand
I send a message of love
    Don't you run away
    Look at your heart
    Come along with me today

Well I am what I am, thank God
Some people just don't understand what I'm about
    Find yourself first
    And then your tool
    Find yourself first
    Don't you be no fool

    Here comes a woman
    Wrapped up in chains
    Messin' with that fool babe
    Your life is pain
If you want to be free
    Come along with me
    Don't mess with the man
    He'll never understand
    I said find yourself first
    And then your talent
    Work hard in your mind
    So if you come alive
You better prove to the man
    You're as strong as him

    Everybody come alive
    Everybody love alive
    Everybody love alive
    Everybody hear my message

I am only surmising - it has got to have appeared somewhere on the tapes...it has got to be a Jimi comment...ala Blue Wild Angel - I also hated that. It may be on a section of the multis we haven't heard yet?

Was just a general inquiry, I assumed same as, but I don't remember seeing/hearing it, you never know, maybe even on the set!. Awww I loved Jimi's mad 'Blue Wild Angel' from IOW

Always very cool to discover a new song (it's a blues one with a nice solo) from Our Man 50 years later !
