1968.02.28 - Scene Club Milwaukee - Master Reel

Just saw the other 2 torrents of this show and found a different transfer on my backup DVDs.

Checked with TLH, everything decodes fine and every file at least 99% lossless.

Many thanks to whoever i downloaded this from back then.

    Original Info below the line:

I acquired the Master tape of this show from the actual taper about 10 years ago. The tape was not stored very well & is in horrible condition. At the time I made 1 DAT copy for a local taper & that is where the other copies out there have originated from. After seeing incorrect lineage for this show on several tape lists I decided to run the tape one more time for Carth who has been posting some excellent Hendrix as of late. The Reel to Reel deck used was connected directly to a stand alone Pioneer CD Recorder with Signature Technologies Silver Interconnects. The 2 cd's were then ripped to the hard drive using EAC & the sides were split with CD WAV. No repairs were made in anyway. What you hear is the actual reel tape warts & all for the first time. Volume level change at beginning of tape is on the original. Jimpress issues 61 & 62 have some great info about the performance. All that said the quality of this recording is quite poor & is really for hard core fans only. Check out a track before you download the whole thing. I've also included a portion of a blank spot from the tape in case someone wants to take a shot at cleaning up the background noise. It may not be worth the trouble though.
I'll post one disc today & the other tomorrow. Hoochie Coochie Man is not complete as the original tape had run out I hope you Hendrix fans enjoy this bit of history. Home made covers made from Jimpress images & a pix off the Web.

This is the 2nd Transfer - There are two versions. Raw and Digitally restored.
    Info from Hans-Peters awesome site:
    http://home.online.no/~hpjohnse/hendrix.html

    The Scene, Milwaukee, WI 28.02.68 (2CDR) - 2nd Transfer
    (Aud [R / F] / 42:05 + 42:56 / 1st Show [Complete] + 2nd Show [Almost Complete]) Master [Master > CDR]
    notes:
    - Circulated @ Easytree jan.2005.
    - This is a re-transfer from the original Master; The versions featured on ATM 004 "Live in Milwaukee" and JA 042-043 are both from the initial (1st) transfer.
    - Info provided by the taper: "I acquired the Master tape of this show from the actual taper about 10 years ago [ca 1994]. The tape was not stored very well & is in horrible condition. At the time I made 1 DAT copy for a local taper & that is where the other copies out there have originated from. After seeing incorrect lineage for this show on several tape lists I decided to run the tape one more time. Volume level change at beginning of tape is on the original."
    - Digitally Restored version available (uneven volume levels fixed).

    The Scene, Milwaukee, WI 28.02.68 - Fixed (Collector's Disc <MP> / 10.02.2005)
    (The Scene, Milwaikee 28.02.68 [1st Show [Complete] + 2nd Show [Almost Complete]]; 42:05 / 42:56) Aud; Master - Digitally Restored *
[* The Volume levels on the raw source version were a bit uneven, but these problems have been fixed here.]

    Which one is this ?

    Thanks for uploading.

    @TOMC
    Hm,
    from the posted original info:
"What you hear is the actual reel tape warts & all for the first time. Volume level change at beginning of tape is on the original."..."No repairs were made in anyway."

    HP says:
"Digitally Restored version available (uneven volume levels fixed)."

I guess, this torrent contains the raw thing with all the warts n'stuff. There even is a small flac file with only the tape noise here.

Can't compare to any other version, as this is the only recording i have from this date.

Re: 1968.02.28 - Scene Club Milwaukee - Master Reel

Thanks a lot for this post! Great!

This is definitely neither so called "Fixed" version from February 2005
nor the BP's version from December 2005 (DIME).

It's raw 2nd transfer (by Mike Parker) as stated in the poster's info.
Even total times of the discs fit the HP's info:
    disc 1 - 42:05
    disc 2 - 42:56

I don't know. You'll have to ask him. Probably by theft, traded a tractor for it.
gave an offer owner couldn't refuse or (highly unlikely) bought it for cash.
