Audiophile sound and nothing else !

    Hi All !
First of all sorry for my english/united state language (lack of !) skills !
But this is not my childhood/parents speaking (french/spanish) !

As all of you i guess i'm crazy about guitarist :Jean (alias Django) Rheinardt, Wes Montgomery, Steve Ray Vaughan, Paco de Lucia and of course James marshall (alias Jimi) Hendrix ! are my favorites !.

But i'm also a audiophile lover . I hate bad sound recording that spoil the play of the artist.
For example if Django is a hell of a player & definitely the best french guitarist of all time [ try to play Jazz and "Manouche" music guitar without using 2 fingers of your burn left hand ( 2 years of treatement in an hospital in Paris when he was 20 ) and we talk again after !]
But sadly i cannot listen oftently (in fact rarely) because it's a pain for my ears to listen to those poor recording of the mid XXth century !! That _really_ sad ! ( not his death , we're all meant to die but the poor audiophilie technology of those years.

But that's not the point of my message here ! .

Yesterday ( i discovered this website recently ! i didn't know they were so many bootleg/unofficial recording of JH !) i DL a live recording call "The Jimi Hendrix Experience - 8.16.68 Columbia 2nd gen" .

Well the sound is just HORRIBLE ! despite the FLAC lossless format i just CAN'T understand such recording suit to somebody ear !.
It just mess up , waste the artist play !.

So i would like to know if they're somewhere a list of live recording ( bootleg or else )
of JH with sound quality check.

I understand that those recording were all made in the 60's wich is ...last century ( okay ..okay no discrimination beside i'm myself born in 64 !) so i'm not asking for a 24bits/92Khz DDD recording ! but just a good sound like those i already have like :
    Live in Woodstock
    Concert isle of Wight
Live at the Royal Albert Hall[1969]
    Jimi Plays Monterey
Jimi Hendrix - Concerts (the one with a painting of JH of the cover) etc...

Those are quit good sound for my ( & i guess everybody ) ears !
Perhaps you're gonna ask why i crave those "live recording" ?? Simple :
like Janis Joplin, the genius of Jimi Hendrix just show up beautifully in those moment !
Too bad that i can't see in our century Artist that can even get close of those 2 !
Thanks for reading until here & for your information if you've got some !
    bye!

Some audience recordings are better than others when it comes to recording quality. Please don't give up on listening to them because of one show :-)
Check out a few more, some are wonderful even though they lack quality.

imo, when it comes to audience recordings, 'quality' is nice to have but is a non-issue when it comes to Jimi. There would be way too many 'magic' moments missed if one were to avoid these.

Some audience tapes sound better than others, but most of us would agree with MorningStar...if you skip the audience tapes due to sound quality, you're going to miss a lot of great Jimi.

I'd say try audience tapes of 25-April-1970, 03-September-1970 and perhaps 10-May-1968. If don't like the quality of those I'd say don't bother as they tend to only get worse from there ! Probably the best sounding audience tape was released by Experience Hendrix on Dagger Records' "Live At The Oakland Coliseum". Jimi audience tapes don't get any better than that.

Well even if i respect completely your opinion i don't agree _completely_ !

Of course some play can be remarquable despite the lack of quality of the sound
( again check the discography of a guy like Django Rheinhard i still listen from time to time & where you can hardly find a decent not even stereo sound )
but if i recognize that it's great those moment are kept & recorded , these are not
the one i want to have for listen privetaly, so my point is not to make a judgement on the fact those recording exist or are listen by others.
    It's just i don't wanna spend time DL-ing them !

The "best sounding" live bootlegs are sort of resumed here here:

Sure but there's so many recording ( i've never thought he did that many tape in a so short périod of time ! he was really a workholic ...well for music at least ! ) so it's easy to be selective, there's enough to feed my craving love for JH guitar play !.
Infortunately it's not the case for other older artist ( bluesman / jazzman of the forty's and fifty's and earlier ).

BTW is someone know a website like Crosstown but for Janis Joplin Bootleg ??

Well thanks for the advice i'm gonna check that ...but it's too bad that like other information there's not a notation for the relative quality of the sound ..of course it's a subjective point of ...hearing !
    Thanks !

Non issue ? I agree, that's why I have room full of Jimi recordings (and some hard drives to boot [pun intended]) :-)
