Jimi Hendrix - Munster, Germany 1969 (Full Concert)
Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens - (Jimi Hendrix).
VIBRATORY MUNSTER'69 MERGE FINAL VERSION 1.31
"Shut Up And Listen"
A Vibratory 3 source merge of:
The Jimi Hendrix Experience at Halle Munsterland, Munster, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany
January 14th 1969
Intro - "One minute to tune up." great recording/mix even in the tune up section.
Come On - tour de force opener, fierce opening solo, smoking playing, lyrical variations?, solid version.
crowd yelling for "All Along The Watchtower!"
Spanish Castle Magic - changes in pitch? recording sounds standing sideways, exploratory first solo by Jimi, "moan for the guitar.", awkward solo before return to chorus, Noel sounds great in this mix. average version.
"slow blues, right. A thing called Red House."
Red House - Sky Church has begun, Jimi so fluid in this style, nice use of tremelo(on the strat?), lovely feedback between verses, compassionate vocal by Hendrix, "hey!" into blazing solo, strong double time bluephoria, recording highlights Jimi's light, playful rhythm work, w/ sparse country/maj penatonic voicings, atypical approach, unique version, aren't they all?, strong return w/ full band, killer outro verse, "yeah!" Jimi really feeling it, pop from Jimi, always a good sign.
Another HOF version.
"What song do you want to hear right now?" Jimi asks the crowd before ripping into
Fire - Jimi ignites the crowd, this tune crackles w/ energy, enthusiasm, solid version.
"dedicated to all the girls in here.", into
Foxey Lady - more of the energy continues, love Jimi's riff/trill, "coming to give it to you...", decent version,
All Along The Watchtower - crowd receives another request, a little rusty, Jimi does a great job w/ his solo, nails it, sick version!, incredible to hear.
tune up, into
Hey Joe - again w/ out intro ala 9Jan.Stockholm/Winterland Oct.68, really kinda bored w/ this one.
"we got 2 more numbers to do...", more tune up,
Voodoo Child - outro sermon of Sky Church, solid beginning, Hendrix digs into 1st position, love the extended Voodoo trill, new ideas near 5:00+, Noel probably in surreal land witnessing Jimi's display, jam quiets down a bit, slight scat/mumble?, sick jam near 6:53!, amazing version.
"we'd like to thank Gerry Stickels for putting a new guitar string on without stopping."
"bye bye", uses war/siren effects normally played in the Star Spangled Banner as an intro to
Purple Haze - straight ahead, outro solo w/ teeth, Jimi almost quotes SSB, crowd wants more.
Overall a nice continuation from the previous night in Cologne. While maybe not as good overall as 13Jan, Munster has a few brilliant moments. Probably my fav. version of Come On hithero, smoking version, sets the tone nicely. Another amazing version of Red House. Watchtower is incredible, starts off kinda rough but Jimi nails his solos and manages to put forth a triumphant version. Voodoo Child is one of those versions, sick jamming/playing by Hendrix.
