Thumbs up Re: 1970-09-01 Storen Scenen, Liseberg Nojespark, Gothenburg, Sweden

I just gotta say thank you and comment on the great work on the resync. Just seeing this, if only someone had the brains enough to video tape the whole concert in high quality way back then. Just watching him play and hearing some of the things in this little video, knocks me for a loop because of how amazing it is. Thank God for modern technology. We can put the actual music to the footage. Just beautiful. I really like this resync and the one from Memphis in 69. I think those are my two favorite because of the things he's playing. Some highly unusual things and moments of genius. Love it. Thank you.

GÖTEBORGS-POSTEN, (page?) [title?] [Göteborg review] by Bert Gren: "Right from the start – the introduction to “Spanish Castle Magic” - you understood that he [Jimi] was in a good mood. Before, he had apologized for the half-hour delay: 'We'll make up for it with the music!'
With him this time he had Mitch Mitchell on drums and Billy Cox on bass... [Billy] plays sparingly, but that fits Jimi's and Mitch's improvisa*tions
[...] The next number was "Killing Floor" (or "I Should Have Quit You" as some Zeppelinarians would call it) and Jimi’s playing showed discipline and skill. His biggest weakness is that his joy in improvisation takes him too far. Aside from that the (very well attended) concert consisted mostly of old numbers - 'Hey Joe' and 'Foxy Lady' he'll never get away from - but everything was played with delicate feeling and finesse. Even though Jimi isn't any longer leading the pop development as he did some years ago, he's still one of the best. His technical abili*ties and expressive playing simply cannot and must not be ignored!"

GÖTEBORGS-TIDNINGEN, (page?) “Mr. Hendrix In A Good Mood’ [Göteborg review] by Tommy Rander: "We present to you Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox on drums and Motoh Miller on bass [sic]” the speaker at Liseberg said to the somewhat con*fused audience. He meant Cox on bass and Mitchell on drums. Thirty minutes later the new Experience started to play and it sounded a bit stiff in the beginning. The bass and drums wouldn't work together and Hendrix seemed to think it was cold, and it was. After a couple of opening songs, things began to work well, very well. Jimi Hendrix played in a way he hadn't done for years and he seemed to like it here. He got the audience on his side; of course "Hey Joe" and "Foxy Lady" made all 5,000 feel at ease.
(Page?) [title?]: Interview by Tommy Rander: "Have you had any problems with hotels this time? (The last time he was in town he smashed up a hotel room at Opalen and wasn’t allowed to leave the city for a couple of weeks until things were sorted out.)
Jimi Hendrix: "No, everything is Okay. But I must say that I haven’t had such a nice time as when I walked around waiting for the trial in Goteborg. I met this girl and..."
TR: Are you involved in politics? You donated 50,000 [sic] dollars to the Martin Luther King foundation...”
JH: No, but they needed the money. In the U.S. you have to decide which you 're on. You are either a rebel or like Frank Sinatra.”
The reason Jimi stopped touring in 1968 was that he suffered from “psychic exhaustion,” as he put it.
JH: “I was tired and worn out, but now everything feels much better. The current band with Cox on bass and Mitchell on drums will probably stick together. If we don’t have an airplane accident or something like that, we’ll stick together for a while, but everyone is free to do whatever he wants, of course.”

GÖTEBORGS HANDELS-OCH SJÖFARTSTIDNING, (page?) [title?] [Göteborg review] by [unkown]: “It has been one and a half years since Jimi Hendrix was in Goteborg. He has been rather pas*sive in the months between. And it was good to hear that he was in shape again, last Tuesday on Liseberg's big stage, even though the concert was rather uneven. The interaction between Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox did not work perfect*ly, and besides that the trio had equipment troubles. Jimi himself played several songs that seemed to be routine [...] The audience got very heavy versions of “Hey Joe” and “Foxy Lady,” the first partly played with his teeth, the other introduced with the words “because she is worn out now!” [...] The end, with “Purple Haze” and “Voodoo Child,” was magnificent. We very much need Hendrix and his music, but in moderate portions, like yesterday.”
Frank Zappa: "Rock journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read."

Would be nice to hear a sample. I can use IzotopeRX EQ Match and tell you right away if it's an upgrade or not.

Has the same cuts as ATM 162-163. This recording is pretty clear but to me it sounds a bit slow although I didn't direct directly compare to the other sources I just checked for cuts in the same documented places as the ATM. I have noticed that sometimes correcting pitch on a tape not running at the right speed can leave the tape sounding kind of odd as I think this one does to some extent. Or maybe I'm just used to the old sources. Regardless thanks for this! Need to give a listen to it on my big speakers not just my computer anyway.
