We were booked into the Garden Suite of the Pierre Hotel.” Interestingly Jimi had written a letter to Uschi Obermaier only five days earlier asking her to visit him in New York. {Thanks to 'kees1954' for correcting me on the letter date - a bit blurry & no envelope in the post by 'scoutship'.}

    Is the date on Jimi's letter to Uschi not 14 in stead of 19 March?

    cf. gallery

    I think it says 19. Jimi's '4' was usually more angular, e.g. see the Electric Ladyland sleeve notes.

    I tried to check the date on the postmark. Isn't that 15 March? That would also be an indication that the letter was written on 14 March. What do you think?

    Ah well, I haven't seen the postmark! I did find 2 other examples of Jimi writing '4' in an angular way.

    Yes, you're absolutely right Kees, now I see the copy that's appeared in the gallery. My copy of the letter was somewhat blurred.
