Perhaps the "unidentified" tune is the jam on Valleys of Neptune with Stevie Winwood; it has a drum machine. Click tracks did not exist in 1970 IIRC.

    Re: The Hendrix Auction Thread

I am kicking myself because I narrowly missed out on this auction - I was out and didn't check in to up my bid...but I knew what this was as soon as I saw it, and strangely enough it was kicking around in Australia. To most it looked it might look like it could have been a dub of some record - but it is not. We have the material but some of these mixes could have been a bit different...I didn't want to spend too much because I couldn't even be sure as to the contents of the reel. It may have just been the box. Unlikely...But it is my fault.

Looks like the live album Jimi and Eddie worked on after the Experience was finished. I doubt that they worked at Wally Heider's studio. However, Jimi stayed at the Beverley Rodeo Hyatt House Hotel in Beverley Hills, CA during a large part of June 1969.

That's right. These are obviously a dub of the edits they made for that unreleased album. It just says Wally Heider recording...which is obviously an acknowledgement of where it was from...The stamp shows it was duplicated at a studio in Woodstock...So I suspect this was a safety or dub of the work Eddie did on the recent live stuff...probably not much new there but I am pissed I missed it. If it was dubbed in Woodstock in mid 1969 - who knows who it might have been for! A dub to check recent work for Jimi himself...it may never have gotten to him - who knows.

If this is legit, i'd imagine a reel dub directly from Jimi's 1st gen copy would sound pretty good. The 24th at the Royal Albert Hall rolls off pretty low (@5kHz) so that would be a great upgrade.
