Berkeley Merge?

Having tired of pleading for a Berkeley merge of audience and soundboards I've decided to attempt it myself. I've never done a merge before so any technical advice will be appreciated. I've got Wavelab Lite and Audacity to work with. But before getting to technical advice let's talk about sources.

A search of CTT sources reveals an ATM with audience sources for the first and second shows. Also I see Bob Terry "composite" tapes for the soundboard of the first show. Is there a soundboard available on CTT for the second show or is that banned because its a commercial release?

From the 2nd show there is a 2nd aud source which you can use to create a SBD-less2nd show merge which would be permitted on CTT.

So you're saying Hallendorf (late show) is not an audience tape?

I successfully merged the "Intro" tracks from Bob Terry SB and ATM Aud of the early show, even though it appears to me that the SB is heavily edited in the moments before Jimi takes the stage and really doesn't match the ATM tape at all. It lacks the audience cheers when Jimi first walks onstage and most of Jimi's tune-up. What it does contain is the annoying but somewhat colorful guy yelling "Bring him out! We've waited long enough!" He is completely missing from the ATM so I stuck that guy at the very beginning of the merge.

At the point where the two sources begin to match up, after solving some speed issues, it really does start to sound pretty nice. Even though the ATM is a little muddier than the SB, it does add something good and the end result is better than the sum of its parts.
