The only version I've heard of this song is from the Paris 67/San Fran 68 cd. Part 1 has a 1:30 long intro and a few minutes of play up until a fade. Part 2 is 6 transcendental minutes of mindshredding awesomeness with a minute of speaking at the finish.

So, why the hell was this song split up? Was there any other editing done on parts of the songs? And where in the interworld can a full take be found?!

Has anyone ever heard Hendrix play faster than part 2? Its like killing floor intro speed for the song, psychadelic blitzing as frantic as any modern day technician while keeping it musical the whole way

Have you heard the 9.52 version on Wolfgangs vault ?, taken from Fillmore 4th Feb 68, although it sounds edited.

well i listened to the vaults version its the same as the EH release, and the story goes as" the taper's tape fell off the reel spools and they had to re-thread it then caught it from where the concert started hence pt1&pt2
thats if u believe EH's story
