Really? At a walmart? it makes me want to just check... so this vinyl, the same mix as 2003? I'm sure it is... they would be saying "holy shitties it has been newly remixed by eddie and sounds better than better than ever and has never been heard like this" (their advertising sounds like a boot company called Empress Valley, not the other way around)
Well there's a new cover, let's hope there's something new inside too.

slightly off topic.
Do we have a full list of what has been upgraded on the visual front?
The recent release's with small sections of added material comes to mind but which Hendrix visual material is now available on bluray?

In the early seventy (1971 max 1972) i saw at cinema "Jimi play Berkley" with some additional footage because i remember accurately some footage what I've never seen again.
I have seen Jimi plays Berkeley several times at different independent theaters in the mid 70's. I cannot remember additional footage but I still remember however this one little art house theater in Hollywood with a great projector and screen that somehow must have somehow obtained a new or rarely used reel of the film. It was the sharpest cleanest sounding version ever.
Ive see IOW in the early 1990`s and and the 1973 film about Jimi Hendrix, in the early 1980`s. Seeing a film on the big screen is way bettler than Blue Ray. IOW i sat in the front Row at the Bloor Cinema in Toronto, after the show while i was waiting for my girlfriend to finish in the washroom the IOW film was right on the floor in front of me by the projection booth the thought of walking out with the film did enter my mind. The guy came down a short time later and told me there was only 2 copies of this film in north america that could be shown on the big screen. Any time you can see a Jimi Hendrix on the big screen its way better and worth it.
Wallybag, have you seen Blu ray projected on a large screen (over 100 inches)? Home projectors are starting to gear up for 4K unfortunately there's no real 4K source material yet. The proper soundsystem and the right screen at home makes going to the cinema a step backwards these days. Most movies you attend are already digital, you're just viewing it on a huge screen with larger speakers and amps with more output. I agree that seeing Jimi properly requires a big screen to get the full effect. Good on you for not knicking the reel of film!
...we will be issuing an expanded edition of Jimi Plays Berkeley in July. It will be both Blu-Ray and DVD. There is some additional footage--particularly "HMT" and "VC (SR)" from the first show--that is notable. The print is directly from the original negative which I was able to find recently. I think this is as good as we will be able to do unless the remaining outtakes that Alan Douglas never turned over in 1995 materialize.
