Cherokee Mist: The Lost Writings of Jimi Hendrix

I put this thread here because it seems to deal with many song lyrics....
finally got my local library to get a few 'loan out' books for me from other libraries.
They are loans so I figured I'd scan a copy and make a .PDF of it for myself...this Cherokee Mist book is great.
I could use a bit of help tho'...scanning and trying to 'proof' read at the same time is slowing me down....I have pages 1-53 in just the .jpg format so far...I need to know if any pages need to be re-done...I think they are OK...but could use some help if anyone is willing to look over the images and post a comment or PM me know if I missed or messed up something...
any help is appreciated...sooner I finish this one I can move on to 'Voices from Home' which I wanted for a while...heck there is only one copy of it in the whole library system.

Very good idea. I have this book and I checked your work. Everything is ok. Maybe you could adjust scan020 a bit because the top is missing, but it is a minor thing.

    Can't have that....
    will correct,

*Please replace 'scan0020.jpg' with this corrected one.

thank you for pointing it out
    posted the rest if interested...
Heck I didn't know there were 3 versions of this book,
I'm kinda happy the library had a 1st edition(easier to work with than paperback)
I've read things about it for a lone time but only recently got an interest in Jimi's actual 'notes'...
I noticed some things in the scans I have a hard time seeing in the book)the little scribbles, etc).
I wanted to make sure that if the image was enlarged that all the text was still readable.
Looks like they dropped the "Cherokee Mist' from the title in the last version(1995)

    What version do you have?
Is there any more in the newer editions?

The one i have (somewhere) completely omits all the introductions and prefaces, and goes straight to Jimi's writings. I cant find it, so i'm not able to identify which version i have, out of the 3 listed.

    Maybe the 3rd?
It 'appears' to be a little smaller in size but has 60+ pages more.....must have a different layout to account for that.
May be easier to read if each page is a separate 'Hendrix writing/poem/lyric'.....
How the heck would anyone think the 'wink of an eye ' was a suicide note, when it reads(slow) at the top of the page?

Re: Cherokee Mist: The Lost Writings of Jimi Hendrix

I borrowed one from the library once, the one with the Atlanta pic on the front. When i got my own copy, which i bought used on Amazon, i realised it was noticeably smaller in format than the one i had borrowed. Hence the additional pages, probably.

Re: Cherokee Mist: The Lost Writings of Jimi Hendrix

I don't think I would have appreciated this book when it 1st came out as much as I can now, with all the other information and audio tapes that have become available over the years it seems to have 'broadened' my understanding a bit.
Man..a person could do a case study on 'Black Gold' lyrics and movie outline alone if they wanted to...
This 'Here Comes The Sun' scan is a great little gem for me(or any guitar player I guess)
has notes, fret positions, playing style type....
(I did straighten the image a bit)

'Here comes the sun' - thats also on the acoustic jam with Mitch which we can find on 'Healing Power' - http://crosstowntorrents.org/showthread.php?1465 - (last track of disc 1, ATM72)

Excerpted below, on the ATM track its from 8:10 onwards. It fits with the chords on the written paper. Jimi even asks Mitch whether he remembers the song to which Mitch agrees.
So they must have played it before!

Wow....hey! thank you for having consideration and time to post it....
I was going to go thru the 'Shokan' discs to see if the 'Here Comes The Sun' on that had any similarity.

Eric Burdon drama queen and cynical self promoter, "[Jimi left his heritage to me]"!!?? (while slipping in several nasty insults over the years, obviously bitterly jealous.)

The newly published 'Ultimate Lyrics' book has excellent photos of many of the items in Cherokee Mist, many in colour and some that have not been circulated until now.

Thanks for taking the time to make and post this...being the book itself does not have any kind if 'listing', I find this extremely useful.
I captured the HTML, make it into an image, converted it to PDF and imported the page into beginning of my PDF version of Cherokee Mist.
Saves me time rather than flipping thru the pages/images to see if any notes for a particular song are in there.

Re: Cherokee Mist: The Lost Writings of Jimi Hendrix

The book is interesting, but I don't think Jimi would have been happy to see his private writings published for everyone to see.

But definitely not as displeased as he would be to see all these unauthorised "private" recordings released by his "family" and the many rough recordings here at CTT, "for everyone to hear," eh?
